Ingredients :

  • Ground nut -1/2 cup

  • Vadagam - 1 tbsp

  • Dry Red Chilies - 7

  • Onion - 1 big

  • Coriander powder - 2 tbsp

  • Curry leaves – a few

  • Oil - 2 tbsp

  • Tamarind - 1 big lime size

  • Salt – to taste

Method :

  • In a pan, fry the ground nut without oil, remove the skin.

  • In another pan, add oil, vadagam, dry red chilies, chopped onion and
    curry leaves. Saute well.

  • Add the ground nuts.

  • Cool the mixture.

  • In mixie, add the above items with tamarind and salt.

  • Grind coarsely.

  • Note -This thovial comes under chutney item. Very good side dish for idly, dosa, puri, hot steamed rice and curd rice.

Potato Capsicum Gravy

Ingredients :

  • Curry Leaves – a few

  • Onion - 1

  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp

  • Green Chili - 2

  • Potato - 2

  • Capsicum -1

  • Dry Red Chilly - 4-5

  • Oil – 1-2 tsp

  • Cumin Seeds – a pinch

  • Salt – to taste

  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp

  • Coriander Powder - 3 tsp

  • Pepper Powder - 1 tsp

  • Cilantro few

Method :

  • In a pan add oil, cumin seeds, dry chilly, curry leaves and chopped
    onion. Sauté well till onion turn brown colour.

  • Add ginger garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for 1/2 min.

  • Add chopped potato and chopped capsicum. Sauté well.

  • Add required amount of salt.

  • Add some water and allow to boil.

  • Add coriander powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder and cilantro. Mix
    well.

  • Serve hot with hot rice or pulao.
